Powering Prosperity: Qcells’ Sponsorship at the Linn County Fair, July 13-15, 2023

Qcells' booth at the Linn County Fair.

We are thrilled to announce our sponsorship of the Linn County Fair, taking place from July 13th to 15th, 2023. This event provides an incredible opportunity to connect with the community and share information about the Muddy Creek solar project being proposed in the Coburg Hills of Linn County.

The Muddy Creek solar project represents a significant milestone in the world of clean energy and agriculture. For the first time in Linn County, we are combining solar panels with sheep ranching, pioneering a concept known as dual-use or agrovoltaic farming.

Agrovoltaic farming seamlessly blends solar energy production with traditional agriculture, allowing for the dual use of prime agricultural land. This innovative approach keeps farmland in the hands of existing landowners while simultaneously generating low-cost, renewable energy. Here’s how it works:

  • Economic Prosperity for Farmers, in Their Control: By combining agriculture with clean energy, the Muddy Creek solar project keeps local landowners  in control of their land while also receiving income from clean energy production.
  • Local Energy: The Muddy Creek project would deliver local, renewable energy for the community. It is expected to generate an estimated 200 MW of solar energy per year – enough to power more than 34,000 households – while helping meet the agricultural and economic needs of the Willamette Valley.
  • Community Prosperity: By bolstering the local tax base and creating jobs in the region, the Muddy Creek solar project contributes to the overall well-being of the community. It will generate an estimated at $1.6 million per year in local tax income and create more than 100 jobs during the construction phase.

We invite you to stop by our booth at the Linn County Fair from July 13th to 15th to learn more. Our team will be on hand to provide detailed information about the Muddy Creek solar project and the economic benefits it brings to Linn County.

We look forward to the opportunity to hear from the community as the Muddy Creek solar project continues to move ahead.
